Coastal Education Program
In partnership with the Living Coast Discovery Center, the Coastal Education Program inspires transitional kindergarten through 8th grade students to become stewards of their environment through local wildlife interactions. Through different standards-based programs, students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning activities aligned with potential careers in science.
Life Science Station
In partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb, Department of Defense Education Activity, Generation STEAM, and the Chula Vista Public Library, the Life Science Station experience gives 4th grade students the opportunity to explore their strengths and interests and align them with potential careers in the life sciences and biotechnology sector. Students participate in engaging, hands-on career exploration activities and participate in a design thinking challenge to create a prototype of a device that would help improve a current piece of medical technology.
Health Station
In partnership with the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, the Health Station gives 4th grade students the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on career exploration activities that help them to explore their strengths and interests and connect them with potential careers in the health sciences.
Hydro Station
In partnership with Sweetwater Authority and Otay Water District, the Hydro Station gives 5th grade students the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on career exploration activities related to water. Students also work together to use the engineering design process to solve a real-world problem.
Innovation Station
In partnership with Qualcomm and the City of Chula Vista Public Library, the Innovation Station gives 6th grade students the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on career exploration activities related to technology. Students also work together to explore computer programming and how it can be used to help solve a real-world problem.
Energy Station
In partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers–Local 569, National Electrical Contractors Association, and the City of Chula Vista Public Library, the Energy Station gives 6th grade students the opportunity to dive deeper into their interests and align them with potential careers in the Energy, Construction, and Utilities Sector and beyond.
Sound Station
In partnership with the City of Chula Vista Public Library, the Sound Station gives 6th grade students the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on career exploration activities aligned with the creative economy. Students also work together to create and design the various components needed to conduct a successful musical tour.
