The Business Services department is committed to providing timely, efficient, and cost-effective services to support both internal and external educational partner needs, with the primary focus being the needs of students. Departments overseen by Business Services include Child Nutrition Services, Facilities and Planning, Fiscal Services, Information Technology, Payroll, Purchasing, Warehouse, Publications, Student Placement, and Transportation.

Child Nutrition Services is committed to providing nutritious, balanced meals in support of student health and academic success. CNS oversees the planning, preparation, and delivery of school meals and ensures compliance with federal nutrition guidelines while promoting healthy eating habits.

For over 30 years, the Chula Vista Community Collaborative (CVCC) has continued to connect families with much-needed resources, including family support and advocacy, parenting resources, health insurance enrollment, food assistance, and more. Families access these services on a referral basis at the school level. For more information, please reach out to the main office at your student’s school.

The Communications Office leads the district’s communication efforts under the direction of the Superintendent. Services include family and community engagement and outreach, internal and external communications, media relations, Peachjar flyers, and public records requests.

Community Schools’ mission is to improve students' lives by facilitating access to services, providing more before and after-school opportunities, forging local community partnerships, and sharing decision-making with the entire community.

The Early Childhood Education Department oversees early childhood education programs, including preschool, transitional kindergarten, school readiness, and PIP (Parent Implementation Program). The Early Childhood Education programs are built on the belief that children thrive when they are loved (Love), engage in meaningful interactions (Talk), and learn through play (Play).

The Facilities and Planning Department maintains the physical infrastructure of the district, from new construction and modernization projects to daily maintenance and safety inspections.

Family Resource Centers (FRC) serve as a bridge between school and home, offering essential services and support for students and families. The district has four FRCs that provide resources such as counseling, workshops, and referrals to community services to strengthen family engagement and student well-being.

The Help Desk supports staff and students with technical issues related to district technology systems. Whether it’s troubleshooting devices, resetting passwords, or resolving connectivity problems, the Help Desk ensures our digital tools are functioning efficiently to support teaching and learning.

Human Resources manages all aspects of employee services, from recruitment and onboarding, to benefits and professional development. HR works to maintain a positive, supportive work environment while upholding employment laws and district policies.

Instructional Services oversees curriculum development, educational programs, and teacher support to ensure high-quality instruction across all grade levels. Instructional Services provides professional development, assessment tools, and instructional resources aligned to district and state standards.

The district's LEAD Program is a free program funded by the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) and After School Education and Safety (ASES) grants. All school sites offer LEAD Clubs and LEAD Hub, formerly the STRETCH and DASH programs. The LEAD Program is free to transitional kindergarten through sixth-grade students who meet program qualifications.

Before and after school programs

The district provides support to students and families who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. If you are in need of services, please contact the McKinney Vento Department.

The Parent Implementation Program (PIP) is designed to support students with behavior challenges and provide their caregivers with effective and positive parenting strategies. If you are experiencing significant behavioral difficulties with your student and want to learn new strategies to address the behavior, PIP can help.

The Payroll Department processes all district employees' payroll each month, including their regular pay, extra pay, substitute pay, and timecards. In addition to processing wages, they are responsible for monitoring and maintaining employee leave balances and retirement reporting.

FISCAL SERVICES

The Purchasing Department is responsible for acquiring goods and services necessary for the daily operations of the district. This includes managing contracts, vendor relationships, bids, and procurement processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective purchasing practices.

School Readiness is for students aged three to five years old. The 8-week program meets twice a week for a two-hour sessions. Sessions require active participation of the parent/guardian and are offered in English and Spanish. This program is for Chula Vista residents only and was designed to provide for students who do not qualify for the district's income-based preschool program.

The Special Education Department provides individualized educational support to students with disabilities. Students with special needs are protected from discrimination based on sex, disability, race, color, national origin, or English language skills, and provided reasonable accommodations as needed. Referrals for special education services can be made by parents, community members, or others if a child is suspected of having a disability. Services are considered and implemented only after regular program resources have been utilized, and placement decisions are made with active parent participation. If eligible, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed and reviewed annually.

Student Services supports the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students. Student Services oversees counseling, attendance, discipline, health services, and other programs that remove barriers to student success and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.

The Student Placement office assists families with enrolling in schools and navigating transfer requests. ENROLLMENT

The Subdesk supports the recruitment and placement of substitute teachers and classified substitutes. Working in coordination with Human Resources, this office ensures classrooms are staffed with qualified professionals when regular staff are absent.

The Transportation Department provides safe and reliable bus services for eligible students across the district. The Transportation Team coordinates routes, maintains a fleet of buses, and ensures compliance with safety standards to support access to education for all students.
