Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) and Chula Vista Educators (CVE) are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Community Schools Program to three more school sites. The new sites include Loma Verde, Los Altos, and Lilian J. Rice.

The application and selection process for Cohort 2 began in August 2023, with four sites ultimately being selected by the district’s Community Schools Steering Committee, which consists of parents, community members, and staff. The four school sites selected will open as a Community School in July 2024.

Our Community Schools Program is designed to enhance students’ lives by providing more services into the school, offering more academic instruction, fostering more local community partnerships, and encourage shared decision-making opportunities with the entire community. The essential four pillars of our program include student support, expanded learning, community engagement, and shared leadership.

The Community Schools Steering Committee and collaboration with CVE have played an integral role in the program's success since its launch in July 2023. The expansion of the program reflects our ongoing commitment to increasing support for students and strengthening our communities.
