The Board of Education, Superintendent Eduardo Reyes, Ed.D., Principal Martha Irene-Garza, community leaders, and elected officials celebrated this momentous occasion.
“We are thrilled to continue to grow as the largest elementary school district in the State of California,” said Superintendent Eduardo Reyes, Ed.D. “This state-of-the-art school is equipped to provide innovative and meaningful learning experiences for its students, from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.”
The new elementary school is named in honor of Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, celebrating a legacy of inspiration and achievement. When the doors open on July 24, the school will serve a diverse student population with the support and guidance of an outstanding team of teachers, staff, and leadership. The school is equipped with modern facilities and resources designed to support accessibility needs, innovative teaching methods, and a comprehensive curriculum.
