State Assessments

Classroom instruction in the Chula Vista Elementary School District is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English/Language Arts, and Mathematics. The CCSS have been adopted in 45 states, 3 U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.

The state-mandated assessment used in the Chula Vista Elementary School District is the Smarter Balanced Assessment. This assessment is a computer-adaptive test which was successfully administered as a field test in 2013-14 and will be administered as a full test in 2014-15. During the 2014-15 year, all students in grades 3 to 8 and 11 will be tested in both English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Results will be reported. Starting in 2015-16, state and federal accountability for schools and districts will resume.
