Accounting
Accounting employees are primarily involved with paying vendors for goods or services purchased by the district and reimbursing employees for work-related expenses, travel, or mileage. The Accounting Department also categorizes and accounts for district revenues. Deposits are made to the San Diego County Treasurer or local banks regularly. Centralized accounting and issuance of checks for all student council accounts are provided by this department.
Attendance Accounting
Each school in the district is connected via the network to the Student Information System. This provides the average daily attendance (ADA) information summarized by the district attendance accounting technician who submits the state attendance reports. An independent study program is in place that allows students to continue their learning while away from school, which also increases ADA.
Along with the various attendance duties, Attendance Accounting coordinates and submits the "Application for School Assistance in Federally Affected Areas," commonly known as Federal Survey Cards. The total revenue from this source is divided almost equally between students living in base housing and students whose parents are in or are connected to, the military.
Budget
Our Budget Department comprises accountants who each maintain a section of the district's budget or our five dependent charter schools' budgets. The Budget Department is responsible for maintaining position control, ensuring budgets are appropriately accounted for, and ensuring compliance with state and federal audits. Additionally, this team tracks and monitors all restricted funds, including special education, grants, and donations, and completes various reporting requirements for these funds.
Payroll Services
Our Payroll Services Department processes all district employees' payroll each month. The payroll services team processes all employees' regular pay, extra pay, substitute pay, and timecards. In addition to processing wages, they are responsible for monitoring and maintaining employee leave balances and retirement reporting.
