CPR Training

CPR/AED & First Aid  Training for CVESD Classified applicants, Classified staff, and Permit Teachers

First Aid, Adult and Child CPR with AED Training certified through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required for the following positions:

  • Bus Attendant
  • Noon Duty Supervisor
  • School Attendance Secretary-Health Specialist
  • School Secretary
  • Student Attendant

(We are no longer holding large in-person classes.)

There are two parts to the exam:
1) You will be sent a link to watch the video prior to coming to the ESSC. (Video will take 3 hours long.)
2) You will be assigned a time to come to the District office for the SKILLS  part of CPR, with and without an AED. You will also take a 20-question quiz on what you have learned on the video regarding CPR and First Aid. (This will take approximately 1 hour.)
You must demonstrate your high-quality skills in CPR and have a passing score of 80% or higher to receive your CVESD CPR certification.

OTHER Certifications Accepted:
CVESD will accept certificates only from training certified through: The American Heart Association or American Red Cross. The training must include First Aid and Adult and Child CPR with AED. This information must be indicated on the certificate.

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                                      CVESD classified staff whose positions require it, and CVESD permit teachers ONLY. Classes are open to Substitute applicants who have passed our CVESD pre-employment tests (once all the required paperwork is submitted to Human Resources.)

CVESD offers CPR training at a cost of $40.00 Payable to CVESD in a Certified Cashier's Check or Money Order on the day of training. (Contracted employees that require CPR in their job description do not need to pay.)

Renewal Requirements:
CVESD employees are required to provide their own CPR re-certification at the next renewal to maintain their employment status with the district. Please ensure you are re-certified prior to your certification's expiration.

It is recommended that you register at least one month prior to the class. Classes fill up quickly. You are required to make your payment on the day of the class (No personal checks or cash). If you are not able to attend the class, please be sure to contact the Human Resources Department to inform them of your cancellation.
