CVESD University is a learning experience for parents and guardians. The program's goal is to provide families with the tools needed to engage in their child's educational journey in a fun, engaging program.

The current list of upcoming workshops can be found below. This year, the district is partnering with Brain Balance San Diego. For more information on each workshop, please refer to each of the district calendar events.
Quarter 1
Workshop: Hard Talks, Strong Bonds
When: Thursday, August 20, 4-5 pm
Where: District offices at 84 East J Street in Chula Vista
What: Does your child shut down, avoid hard conversations, or struggle to talk about big feelings? In this workshop, families will learn how to open honest, age- appropriate conversations with their children, building a foundation of trust and psychological safety at home.
In this session, families will learn:
- How to create a safe foundation for honest conversations
- Strategies for active listening
- Ways to respond without shutting down communications

Workshop: Understanding Dyslexia
When: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 9-10 am
Where: District offices at 84 East J Street in Chula Vista
What: Dyslexia is the most commonly diagnosed learning difference, but it’s also widely misunderstood. This workshop helps families distinguish between myths and facts, enabling them to better support their child’s learning journey.
In this session, families will learn:
- What dyslexia is, and what it is not
- How dyslexia can impact reading, writing, and confidence
- Common myths and misconceptions
- Evidence-based strategies to support effective intervention

What: Did you know that 1 in 3 people experience anxiety at some point in their lives? This session helps families understand anxiety and learn tools to support emotional regulation and well-being.
In this session, families will learn:
- What happens in the brain during anxiety
- How anxiety can show up as worry, fear, rigidity, or emotional dysregulation
- Practical tools to help manage anxiety effectively
- Ways to support children and adults with confidence
