What to Know for the Start of the 2025-26 School Year

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is delighted to welcome students, staff, and families back to school on July 23 for the 2025-26 school year. In preparation for the start of the new school year, we have compiled important information for parents and guardians to review before school officially resumes.

All school sites will be sending out information to their specific communities regarding back-to-school activities, class information, and school supplies needed. Please contact your school site or the district office if you require further information.

Rigorous Learning for All: Now in the second year of its five-year academic plan, Rigorous Learning for All, CVESD remains committed to fostering a collaborative environment where families, staff, and the community work together to support every child’s success. Read the full plan here.

District Calendar: Make sure to mark your calendar with key dates for the 2025–26 school year, including holidays and school breaks. Whenever possible, schedule vacations, appointments, and other commitments during these times to help students avoid missing valuable classroom learning. Consistent attendance is essential for academic success. Download the full calendar by clicking here.

Community Expo: Learn more about district programs, resources, and services at CVESD’s 4th Annual Community Expo on Saturday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees will enjoy interactive activities for students, free food while supplies last, and so much more.

Parent Ambassador Program: CVESD is launching a new Parent Ambassador Program, a district-wide initiative, designed to strengthen the home-school connection and support high-quality learning experiences for all students. Applications are open until Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m. Apply today by clicking here.

Communications: To better serve CVESD’s community, the district is excited to announce the launch of new communications tools for the 2025-26 school year! This all-new, integrated communications experience includes new, accessible, and easy-to-navigate district and school websites, a new, efficient mass messaging system for timely and dependable alerts, and a new CVESD mobile app, which will act as a communications hub for all school and district-wide news. Learn more here.

Nutrition Information: Every student receives free breakfast and lunch, no matter their household income. In the coming weeks, the district will distribute LCFF (Local Control Funding Formula) forms to all school sites. It’s important that every parent or guardian completes this form, even if your child doesn’t participate in the school meal program.

Transportation: The district offers transportation services for students who live beyond the designated walking distances. For full details, including eligibility, how to apply, and bus schedules, click here.

Before and After School Programs: All school sites offer LEAD Clubs and LEAD Hub, formerly the STRETCH and DASH programs. The LEAD Program is free to transitional kindergarten through sixth grade students who meet program qualifications. For more information, click here.

Safety: We have established comprehensive emergency procedures for emergencies, conduct regular safety drills, and maintain open lines of communication with parents. We urge parents to update their emergency contact information to ensure they receive all safety notifications. For more information about our safety measures and protocols, please click here.

Community Schools: This year, CVESD is proud to welcome five new Community Schools: Castle Park, Lauderbach, Montgomery, Otay, and Vista Square. These schools will offer expanded services and stronger partnerships to support the whole child and their families. Learn more about Community Schools here.
