Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

On November 14, 2025, Rosebank Elementary gathered as a school community to participate in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Students walked alongside staff, PTA volunteers, and School Resource Officers in recognition of Ruby Bridges and her lasting impact on public education.

Ruby Bridges became a significant figure in American education in 1960 when she attended William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans during the first year of school desegregation. Her experience marked a significant moment in the nation’s history and continues to serve as an example of perseverance and the importance of ensuring that every student feels welcome in school. In Ruby’s honor, everyone who participated wore purple, joining others across the country who recognize the day through this annual event.
