Mid-Year Update for Rigorous Learning for All 2025-26 School Year

Mid-Year Update for Rigorous Learning for All 2025-26 School Year

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is in its second year of implementing Rigorous Learning for All (RLFA), a five-year academic plan designed to improve student achievement through measurable growth across every CVESD school.

At the midpoint of the school year, CVESD continues to show progress in each of the four key domains: Instructional Transformation, Turnaround Leadership, High-Quality Professional Learning, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). These domains create a cohesive approach to teaching and learning that prioritizes strong instruction, effective leadership, and systems that ensure students receive timely and appropriate support.

Through continued efforts to transform instructional practices, district leaders, teachers, and staff are implementing strategies and thinking routines that promote deeper learning and student engagement. This includes a strong emphasis on standards-based instruction, continued implementation of district-adopted instructional materials with fidelity and purpose, and intentional use of formative assessment data to adjust instruction and meet the needs of all learners.

District and school leaders also continue to engage in purposeful leadership development to support instructional excellence and sustained school improvement through turnaround leadership. School leaders continue to receive ongoing coaching and professional learning focused on instructional leadership, data-informed decision-making, and systems alignment, to monitor progress, share best practices, and plan next steps.

Continued professional learning focused on standards-aligned instruction, effective lesson design, and formative assessment practices is taking place for CVESD staff to meet our goal for high-quality professional education. Staff have engaged in expanded training opportunities in literacy, mathematics, English Language Development, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and Dual Immersion.

In addition, CVESD continues to strengthen MTSS structures to ensure students receive the proper support at the right time. Mid-year accomplishments include the improved use of data to identify student needs and monitor progress, the expansion of literacy and mathematics supports, and an increased emphasis on student well-being as a critical component of academic success.

As we move into the second half of the 2025–26 school year, CVESD will continue to refine and strengthen the implementation of Rigorous Learning for All to ensure high-quality learning experiences for every student.
