CVESD Board Adopts New Safety Policy

CVESD Board Adopts New Safety Policy

At the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Board of Education Meeting on November 12, 2025, the Board approved Board Policy 3515.1 Campus Access and Safety. As part of this policy, all non-charter school sites across the district will transition to a closed-campus environment in the coming months. This means all visitors will be required to sign in at the front office before entering any school site.

Each school will develop a transition plan prior to implementing the policy. These plans will be shared with families and will include details about drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as other logistics to support a smooth district-wide transition.

This policy does not change the district’s commitment to family engagement or involvement. The district continues to welcome families to school events and activities, and values the partnership of volunteers. The purpose of the policy is to ensure that CVESD is aware of who is on school sites at all times, helping maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

CVESD recognizes that this is a shift in our community and appreciates the partnership of families and staff as updated procedures take effect. The district’s top priority is to maintain school environments that are both safe and welcoming for all. Families with questions are encouraged to contact their school’s front office for additional information.
