On November 14, 2025, Rosebank Elementary gathered as a school community to participate in the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Students walked alongside staff, PTA volunteers, and School Resource Officers in recognition of Ruby Bridges and her lasting impact on public education.

At the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s Board of Education Meeting on November 12, 2025, the Board approved Board Policy 3515.1 Campus Access and Safety. As part of this policy, all non-charter school sites will transition to a closed-campus environment in the coming months.

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is highlighting the importance of being in school every day and on time with the Squishmallow Attendance Hunt. From September 2 through 19, Squishmallows will be hidden across schools in the district. Because their locations are a surprise, the best way for students to take part is by attending school each day. 

On August 27, 2025, CVE and CVESD Community School Co-chairs collaborated with neighboring labor associations and school districts into organizing the first South County Community Schools Summit, a milestone gathering to expand collaboration and strengthen supports for students, staff, families, and the broader community.

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD), in collaboration with the Chula Vista Welfare Council, is organizing a district-wide canned food drive from October 21 through November 8. The Chula Vista Elementary School District is hosting an Attendance Competition to promote the importance of regular school attendance. In alignment with the district’s “2 is Too Many” attendance campaign, the contest seeks to highlight the critical impact that even just two days of missed school can have on a student’s educational success. Schools, classes as well as individual students can submit an entry for a chance to have their work featured on all CVESD social media platforms.

Ella B. Allen Elementary has been honored with the America’s Healthiest Schools award by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation in the Bolstering Physical Education and Activity category. This award celebrates the school’s commitment to creating a vibrant, healthy environment for its community.

Starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th, most of San Diego County, including Chula Vista and surrounding areas, will be experiencing a heat wave that is expected to last until 8 p.m. Friday, September 6th. To ensure the well-being of our students and staff, each school has protocols in place to keep students safe during the excessive heat, including modifying and/or relocating programs and breaks that involve strenuous activities, such as athletic clubs and recess. Students will also be encouraged to stay hydrated by taking extra water fountain breaks throughout the day.
