At the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD), we deeply value the insights and needs of our school communities. As part of our commitment to listening and learning, we conduct two important surveys yearly—the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) and the Hanover End-of-Year Survey. These surveys are essential tools that help us gather valuable information to create a better learning environment for all students.
The CHKS is an anonymous survey to measure various aspects of school life, including school climate, safety, student wellness, and youth resilience. Conducted by the California Department of Education, this survey gathers essential data on student health behaviors, the school environment, and overall well-being.
For 5th-grade students, participation in the CHKS requires parental or guardian consent. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes and will be administered during class between November 1 and December 20, 2024. Your child's participation is completely anonymous and provides us with critical information to help foster a safe, supportive school environment.
In addition to the CHKS, CVESD partners with Hanover Research to conduct an End-of-Year Survey. This survey is available to students in 4th to 6th grade, as well as their families and staff, and focuses on gathering feedback about their school experiences. The data collected is strictly for research purposes and is vital in improving our schools and programs. The Hanover End-of-Year Survey will be available later in the spring semester.
If your child is eligible to participate in one or both surveys, you must complete a consent form sent via email on October 15, 2024. Please contact your child's school site if you have not received the consent form. You can learn more about both surveys by clicking here.
We encourage you to participate in this important process, as your feedback will help shape the future of our schools and ensure we continue to meet the needs of our students and families.
