CVESD News Alert

As you are aware, there is an important situation that has impacted the Imperial Beach, and portions of the San Diego/Coronado areas. We are aware of the Boil Water Advisory issued by the County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health, and Quality due to water supply concerns in these regions that tests revealed the presence of E. coli in water provided by Cal American Water Company.

There are five schools within the Chula Vista Elementary School District that are impacted by the Boil Water Advisory. They are Los Altos, Finney, Silver Wing, Juarez-Lincoln, and CVLCC High School. Communication was sent last night to these specific schools letting them know of the precautions we are taking including shutting off the water (excluding the toilets) and serving food that does not need to be rinsed or washed before eating. We are also providing water bottles, hand sanitizer, and hand washing stations for students and staff to use.

With the Boil Water Advisory issued, please follow the instructions provided by local authorities and take additional precautions to ensure the health and well-being of everyone. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has additional guidance in both English and Spanish on what individuals can do if they are faced with a boil water advisory.

We have been in contact with health authorities for the County of San Diego and will continue to provide updates as they are available. If you have any additional questions, please contact your principal. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.

Update as of 11 am:

Los Altos Elementary School is no longer impacted by the Boil Water Advisory, and precautionary measures have been lifted per the County of San Diego. All school functions will resume as normal.

Update as of August 26:

The Boil Water Advisory is lifted for San Diego. All precautionary measures for the impacted school sites at CVESD will be lifted immediately.
