Adolescent Growth Education (A.G.E.) will be starting this April at the Chula Vista Elementary School District. The purpose of the program is to provide students with information regarding the following:
- 4th Grade: Bullying, the social, emotional, and physical changes of puberty and menstruation.
- 5th Grade: Developing self-esteem, being clear with friends through decision-making, boundaries (to prevent harassment and abuse), and changes that occur during puberty.
- 6th Grade: Changes in adolescent bodies which occur during puberty, the reproductive systems, and boundaries.
The program will provide students with age-appropriate information regarding adolescence, ensuring they develop the confidence and self-respect necessary to choose a healthy lifestyle. In addition, parents and guardians are encouraged to set aside time to discuss these important topics with their child at home.
Parents and guardians are invited to preview the A.G.E. curriculum and videos at district-hosted parent preview nights held on the following dates:
- 4th Grade: Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
- 5th Grade: Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
- 6th Grade: Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Links to the meetings will be sent through School Messenger and will be available here on the district website.
A notification letter will be sent out by the classroom teacher three weeks prior to the start of instruction which can be returned if a parent/guardian chooses to opt-out* their child from A.G.E.
