Rigorous Learning for All
Rigorous Learning for All At CVESD
The district remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a collaborative environment where families, staff, and the community work together to support every child’s success. Now entering year two of its five-year academic plan, Rigorous Learning for All, the district is building on the foundational work established in the first year to deepen its impact and ensure consistent, high-quality instruction across all schools.
Launched as a district-wide commitment to excellence, Rigorous Learning for All continues to focus on transformational teaching and learning. The initiative aligns teaching practices identified by the National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST) with California state standards and the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals to accelerate student achievement.
“Last year set the groundwork for meaningful change, and now we are moving into a critical phase of implementation and refinement,” said CVESD Superintendent Eduardo Reyes, Ed.D. “We are seeing promising signs of progress, and we remain focused on strengthening instructional leadership and systems that support every learner.”
In year two, CVESD is deepening its partnership with WestEd, using its research-based turnaround framework centered on four key domains:
- Instructional transformation
- Turnaround leadership
- High-quality professional learning,
- Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
Key areas of focus this year include:
- Teachers and principals will continue receiving high-quality training to support student learning.
- Schools are reviewing and updating their school plans to meet the unique needs of their students.
- We’re working to remove barriers so all students can access challenging and engaging learning opportunities.
- Leaders across our district focus on creating a strong school culture that puts students first.
As a result of the collective efforts in year one, CVESD is using updated student performance data and ongoing feedback to inform adjustments in year two. The district continues to emphasize transparency and collaboration by providing regular updates to the Board of Education, site and district leaders, and the broader CVESD community.
“This work is about sustainable, systemic improvement,” added Superintendent Reyes. “As we move into year two, we are more aligned, more focused, and more determined than ever to ensure rigorous learning for every student.” The Rigorous Learning for All is a call to action for our entire CVESD community to ensure that every student has the tools, support, and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.
