Independent Study Program (ISP)
CVESD’s Independent Study Program (ISP) is a home-based, online learning option for students in Grades K-6. The ISP offers a learning experience designed to help parents address their child’s grade level standards at home and maintains the same academic standards as in-person instruction.
Independent study students must have access to the internet at home. They are assigned to a dedicated district ISP Teacher Facilitator who provides ongoing support, designs and deploys curriculum, and tracks each student’s progress. The Teacher Facilitator provides intervention, with the majority of instruction being provided by the Home Teacher (an adult at home). To earn attendance credit, ISP students are required to attend synchronous learning sessions and complete assignments in a timely manner. They are also required to participate in all mandated online and in person state and district assessments. The ISP aligns with the CVESD school calendar.
Is the Independent Study Program right for your family? It could be a fit for:
- Students struggling in an in-person setting
- Students with health concerns that impact their ability to attend school in-person
- Students with scheduling needs who are not able to attend school in-person
- Parents who wish to create a strong working relationship between the student, parent, and teacher
- Parents who wish to be more involved in their child’s education through instruction at home
