Finalsite FAQs

Finalsite is a communications hub (websites, mass messaging notification, mobile app, and chat) that allows school and district administrators to communicate with staff and parents/guardians using any combination of: phone calls, email, text message, push notifications, chat rooms through the mobile app, and website updates.

No sign-up is required to receive mass messaging notifications. As long as your contact information is correct in the district’s database, you will automatically receive calls, texts, and emails.

Finalsite imports contact information for the top two primary guardians for each student (those listed as Priority 1 and 2 in our student database). If you’re a parent/guardian who needs to update your contact information, please contact your student’s school for the change.

For standard calls, the district will use the primary phone number listed for each parent/guardian in our student database. General outreach emails are sent to all email addresses on file, and text messages (SMS) are sent to all mobile numbers designated for SMS within the system. 

If you're receiving calls or texts on multiple phones, it's likely because the message was classified as an emergency. When Finalsite sends out an emergency message, it contacts all phone numbers listed under all primary guardians in our student database. However, emergency contacts (non-guardians) are not called.

While we do not recommend it, you do have the ability to opt out of non-emergency phone calls, text messages, and emails. Non-emergency phone calls, text messages, and emails are categorized as messages not related to student safety. You may not opt out of emergency messages. This is for the benefit of your student. Emergency message examples are: school closures, early releases, evacuations, etc. (Note: Automated attendance calls are considered emergency messages as they pertain to student safety and therefore, cannot be opted out of.)

For non-emergency phone calls, please listen to the entire message. At the end of the message, follow the prompts to opt out or call the Finalsite Phone Hotline at 855-502-7867. For email messages, there will be a link at the bottom of the email. (Note: emergency text messages and standard text messages come from different numbers, so they must be opted in or out of separately).

To opt back into phone calls, call the Finalsite Phone Hotline at 855-502-7867 from the phone line that has been opted out. To opt back into text messages, text the word "START" to "60680" from the phone line that has been opted out for non-emergency messages. To opt back into email messages, please email commsoffice@cvesd.org and request to be opted back into emails. 

Most times when this occurs, it is a work phone number and the parent no longer works at that company, or it is a home or cell phone number that was given up and reassigned to a new person. If you are not affiliated with the district and are receiving messages in error, please contact the specific school mentioned in the message (if available) or call the district office so we can investigate and remove the outdated contact information.

All text messages and subsequent alerts will come from 60680 for non-emergency messages and 54968 for emergency messages.

Depending on your service provider, you are subject to all applicable messaging charges. Standard message and data rates may apply. 

The CVESD Mobile App is a new communications hub for families and staff. The goal of the mobile app is to provide families and staff with the latest news and information for each family. 

No, the CVESD Mobile App is optional but provides easy access to all news and updates for the district and your child's school site. 

iOS/Apple download instructions 

1. To download the new mobile app on your iOS/Apple device, start by opening the Apple App Store. 
2. Search Chula Vista Elementary School District. 
3. Select and download your app by clicking the get button next to your app and clicking install if needed. You may need to enter your Apple ID password to authorize the download. 
4. Open the app on your device. 
5. If these instructions have changed or are not what you see on your end, click "Download apps and games on your iPhone or iPad" to see more current instructions. 

Android/Google Play download instructions 

1. To download the new mobile app on an Android device, open the Google Play Store. 
2. Search Chula Vista Elementary School District. 
3. Select the app from the search results and tap to download. Click Install to start the download and installation process. 
4. Review the permissions and click accept to proceed. 
5. Once the app is installed on your Android device, open it directly from the Play Store by clicking the open button or find the CVESD mobile app icon on your home screen.
