  • New interdistrict transfer requests of siblings of current students.
  • New interdistrict transfer requests.

*When completed within the parameters set on the registration timeline.

Due to continued growth in Chula Vista, no new transfers will be approved for impacted eastern schools effective immediately.

Zone Transfers (Intradistrict)

Once students have enrolled at their neighborhood school, parents/guardians may complete a District Zone Transfer form to apply to a different school within CVESD. Zone Transfer applications are processed based on the date of application. Families will be notified by email regarding the outcome of the transfer. The student will be placed on a waitlist if the application is denied.

The transfer school of attendance will provide the following:

Renewal Zone Transfers forms via an electronic link. Parents will receive notification of their renewal transfer decision via email. Zone Transfers are reviewed annually based on space availability and whether or not there are attendance and/or behavior issues per Administrative Regulation 5117. There is no transportation provided for Zone Transfer students.

Interdistrict Transfers

Families living in other school district boundary areas may apply for their students to attend CVESD with a San Diego County Office of Education Interdistrict Transfer form. This is a district-to-district application, and students may be placed at school locations other than the preferences listed.

Interdistrict Transfer applications are initiated at the school district of residence and require their authorized signature. The complete application and required documentation must be submitted to the Student Placement Office for processing.

Incoming interdistrict transfer applications for the upcoming school year are accepted on or after April 3, 2023, as long as the Interdistrict Agreement with the district of residence is in place.

  • New/Renewal interdistrict transfer applications received on or after April 3, 2023, will be notified up to two weeks after the start of the new school year.
  • Parents/guardians need to enroll their children in the neighborhood school while the interdistrict transfer application is being processed.

Parents/guardians are notified by USPS mail regarding the outcome of the transfer request. No waitlist is maintained for interdistrict transfer applications. Interdistrict Transfers are reviewed annually based on space availability and whether or not there are attendance and/or behavior issues per Administrative Regulation 5117. There is no transportation provided for Interdistrict Transfer students.

Overflow

Occasionally, no classroom spaces are available in the neighborhood school. When this occurs, the district may assign students to another school for the remainder of the year or until space becomes available at the neighborhood school. During distance learning and the temporary childcare programs, there is no transportation provided.
