The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is continuing its commitment to student success by expanding Community Schools. With the addition of Enrique Camarena, Fred H. Rohr, and Valle Lindo Elementary, the district now has eight Community Schools, each shaped by the unique needs of its students, families, and the broader community.
More than just a place to learn, Community Schools at CVESD embody a collaborative, bottom-up approach that empowers community voices and encourages shared decision-making. At the heart of the Community Schools model are authentic governance structures that bring together educators, families, and local organizations to identify priorities, design solutions, and advocate for community needs.
This latest expansion is made possible through a federal grant in partnership with National University. These three schools will build on the Community Schools model by forming Site Steering Committees and collaborating with community partners to enhance academic programs, student well-being, and family engagement opportunities.
By securing both state and federal funding, the district continues to expand initiatives that make a lasting impact. At the forefront of innovative education, CVESD continues to seek additional funding and partnerships, reinforcing its commitment to creating a strong, supportive network where every student can thrive.
