The intent of this letter is to target traffic and safety issues at Tiffany Elementary in the mornings and afternoons. Just like all others schools in the district, we have a large influx of traffic at the start of school and the end of the day due to students being dropped off and picked up.
One of the problems we are experiencing is with parents who park in the parking lot and allow their children to walk out to their vehicle unassisted. Although some of the children may be capable of crossing unassisted, it is unsafe. We ask if you choose to park in the parking lot that you physically assist your child from the curb to your vehicle while utilizing the crosswalk near the main office.
Another problem is with parents stopping in the through lane to pick up children. Please use the loading and unloading area, which is painted yellow. Stopping in the through lane is illegal and unsafe. Remember when using the loading zone the driver must remain in the vehicle.
We are currently working on finding volunteers to assist with crossing at the crosswalk near the office. In addition we will be holding student assemblies to discuss safety tips with the children as well as police traffic enforcement.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Anthony Gonzalez, Tiffany School Resource Officer
