Cyber Bullying

At Olympic View we have a no tolerance policy for students harassing, bullying, or otherwise degrading other students whether physically, verbally, or in cyberspace. In March, we had a Cyberbullying assembly for all sixth grade students.  It was made very clear to the students that it is illegal for anyone under the age of 13 to have a Facebook account unless a parent monitors it.  Parents’ role includes monitoring online activities by their child. The ability of social media to be rapidly spread among other members of the community can publicly humiliate students and adversely impacts the school’s ability to educate your children.  While these incidents may originate and occur during non-school hours, they overflow into the classroom and disrupt the educational environment.  Our school is a No Place for Hate site and we are committed to providing a secure, supportive, learning environment where all students are treated with dignity and respect.  Any student behavior contrary to this will be dealt with immediately and his/her parents will be contacted.
