Dear Olympic View Families,
It is always so exciting to begin a new school year. I would like to take this moment to welcome all of our new families, and welcome back all of our returning families. It is important for you to know that we take great pride in everything we do at Olympic View. We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding staff and rest assured that your children are receiving the very best education here at our school. Part of what makes our school a special place to learn and grow is our belief that “It takes an entire village to raise a child”. We recognize that we have a wonderful community and by working closely together, we can make sure that each child develops and refines the necessary character traits to allow them to perform their personal best both academically and socially.
One of the building blocks of success at Olympic View has been the wearing of school uniforms. This unique opportunity was the decision of the parents at our school during the second year of our school’s inception. Our children look so sharp when they arrive to school sporting the school uniform, proudly wearing the school colors; red, white and blue. Your support in keeping this valued element of our success is very much appreciated. Please help our children look the best they can every day at school. With your support, our children will remain focused on learning as we strive to maintain a disciplined atmosphere at our school.
You will be receiving a Parent Handbook and in it you will find the Olympic View Shared Vision Statement. Please take the time to read this as the statement reflects the shared vision, developed by students, staff, parents, representatives of Eastlake High School, and the EastLake Company. The carefully selected words woven together so masterfully still ring true a decade later so, take a moment to read and enjoy a piece of our culture.
Feel free to contact your child’s teacher or myself on any matter related to school. We are here for your children and you. Communication is key to ensuring your child’s success at school and is an area of focus on which we continually work to enrich. Please help us by constantly checking your child’s planner, folder, contract, binder and backpack.
As our partners in your child’s education, it is important for you to instill in your children the value of education. Some of the best ways to do this are making sure your child arrives each day on time and ready to learn, helping them with homework, and talking with them about ideas and topics that they’re studying in school. You are strongly encouraged to read to and with your children, regardless of their age, as this is one of the best ways to foster their love of reading while building their skills
The school packet contains important information. It is of outmost importance to read all of the information and return the forms and cards in the folder to your child’s teacher promptly.
We look forward to having your terrific children for the 2007-2008 school year and pledge to you to take extra special care of each one of them. We know that you are entrusting them to us and acknowledge that this is an awesome responsibility we take most seriously.
