The Chula Vista Elementary School District has been working toward the goal of adopting one common calendar with adjoining school districts.  McMillin School will host two meetings to discuss this concept and welcomes all parents and interested community members to attend.  You will have an opportunity to view the proposed calendars and discuss options with our principal.  If you would like to learn more, please plan to attend one of the meetings: Thursday, September 18 at either 10:00 AM or 6:00 PM.

McMillin Adopts New Assessment Program
McMillin School has adopted a new comprehensive assessment program called Measure of Academic Performance (MAP) for grades 2-6.  The McMillin School Site Council approved this adoption along with the budget expense last spring.  This is an additional tool for us to manage, report and plan student progress on our academic standards.  Students will take this test in our computer lab.  Using the computer will allow the test to be tailored to each individual student's achievement level.  The program increases difficulty in increments with each correct answer and drops level of difficulty when the child answers incorrectly.  The test is ungraded, untimed and very accurate.  If you have any questions about the MAP Program, please contact Mr. Gugerty or Ms. Gonzalez at 397-0103.

Hugs Bags
Part of the McMillin Disaster Plan includes a Hugs Bag for every student.  The Hugs Bag includes items which will be of assistance for students in the event of a disaster.  The Bags should include: bottled water, snack items, and personal items which may be of comfort to your child (note from parent(s), pictures, small stuffed animal, etc.).  All items should be placed in a gallon-sized ziploc bag which has been labeled with the student's name.  Parents are asked to send their child's Hugs Bag to school by Friday, August 1. They will remain in the classroom with the student and then returned home at the end of the school year to be updated by the parents.
