Los Altos School Profile
Los Altos School is one of 44 schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District located in a residential, multi-ethnic, and multiracial community in South San Diego. Re-modernized in the summer of 2002, the school's new design offers students and the whole community a modern, clean, and safe learning environment.
Los Altos academic program offers students an integrated curriculum centered on the California Content Standards. Results driven teaching and learning characterizes the work teachers and support staff implement every day to ensure that all children meet academic standards. Los Altos is committed to providing powerful, focused teaching and learning every day for every child in every classroom during the course of the school day.
Currently Los Altos enrollment is comprised of 407 students. Los Altos serves students from a variety of social, cultrual and economic family environments. Our ethnic composition at Los Altos continues to be predominately Hispanic at 89%, Black/African American at 5%, White at 3%, and Other at 3%.
Presently, 64% of our students qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Los Altos has a mobility rate of 21%. Students identified as English Language Learners comprise 48% of our student population.
