Built in 1955, Cook School is characterized by five classroom wings, a library, a cafetorium, an administrative wing, all newly remodeled in 1999. Cook School is one of 35 schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District and one of 20 that operate on a ten-month traditional calendar. A normal enrollment at Cook School is approximately 530 students in grades K-6 with an average of 100 children enrolled in the Child Care Center, located on campus.

Students, parents, and staff exhibit a great sense of pride in our school and its pupil ethnic diversity, which is African-American (3.7%), American Indian or Alaskan (1.6%), Asian (1.2%), Filipino (1.4%), Latino/Hispanic (55.2%), Pacific Islander (1.0%), and White (36%).
