PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Bring your child to school on time every day. Avoid unnecessary absences; do not remove your child from school during school hours, unless for emergencies.
  • Follow school/District rules for proper attire & hygiene; your child must be clean (showered, teeth brushed and clean clothes).
  • Give your child breakfast at home, unless he/she participates in the schools’ breakfast program.
  • Bring complete homework to school, and make sure your child has a quiet place to do homework.
  • Pick your child up on time at the end of the school day.
  • When you visit your child’s school, please register at the office. This is a school regulation.
  • Follow school disciplinary rules.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to set educational goals for your child.
  • Ask the teacher how your child is doing in the classroom, and what you can do at home to help him/her.
  • Try to attend teacher/parent conferences and school activities.
  • Read to your child or have somebody read to him/her for at least 20 minutes every day. Do not allow him/her to watch TV or play with videogames for more than 45 minutes per day (maximum 1hr.)
  • Visit and check out books for your child at your local libraries.
  • Promote and keep your native language, and help your child become biliterate.
  • Make sure your child is resting enough! A child needs to sleep 9-10 hours per day.
  • Make sure your child receives regular health services, as well as an adequate and healthy diet.
  • Participate with school staff and other families in decision-making processes that will benefit the students.
  • Offer your services and participate in your child’s classroom and school activities.
