State Preschool Program
The State Preschool program is a part-time comprehensive developmental program for three-to-five-year-old children from low-income families residing in the Chula Vista Elementary School District boundaries. The program is funded through Title 5 of the California Code for Regulation and monitored for quality by California Department of Education, Child Development Division.
Services are available to all eligible persons without regard to sex, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, color, ancestry or mental or physical disability. The State Preschool welcomes enrollment of children with disabilities.

State Preschool Eligibility
Qualifications
Children must meet the program qualifications listed below:
- AGE - Child must be at least 3 or 4 years old by October 1st (not eligible for Kindergarten)
- IMMUNIZATION - Child must have 3 polio, 4 DTP, 3 Hep B, 1 Varicella, 1 MMR, and 1 HIB. The MMR and HIB must be given on or after the first birthday
- INCOME - Family income must fall within State guidelines for low income according to family size
- RESIDENCY - Preference will be given to families who reside within the Chula Vista
School District’s attendance area Priority is given to children who turn 4 by October 1st and will attend Kindergarten the following year.

Step 1: Please bring the following documents to register:
- Child’s immunization record
- Recent proof of income (a month's worth)
- Birth Certificate of the child registering, and of all the dependent children in the household
- ONE document proving residency (utility bill, phone or cable)
