Nutritional Services

Our motto in Child Nutrition Services is “Our students are our customers.” We are committed to serving nourishing and satisfying meals at a reasonable cost. This is achieved by offering whole grain breads and pastas, vegetarian options, full salad bars with fresh fruits and vegetables and low fat milk options daily. We also strive to make breakfast and lunchtime fun by offering promotions like the Harvest of the Month, School BBQ’s and Alphabet Apple to Zucchini Salad Bars. It is our goal to provide meals that contribute to balanced nutrition and good health because we believe in the important fact that a healthy mind is a learning mind.

Child Nutrition Services serves breakfast and lunch at 44 elementary school sites, 16 preschools and offers after school snack programs at 20 qualified sites.

Who is Eligible for Free or Reduced Cost Meals
 

If you receive food stamps, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWorks), or benefits from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), your child may receive free meals at school. We encourage you to apply by filling out a brief application.

 

How to Apply -  Our New Online Application Process

The Chula Vista Elementary School District is making it easier for families to apply for free or reduced price school meals.  




The online application:

• Ensure that application is completely filled out.
• Provides application in English or Spanish.
• Keeps data secure and confidential.
• Accelerates the application review process and the determination of your child's eigibility status.

How to Apply -  Paper Application Process

To be considered for free or reduced price meals for your child(ren), complete an application. Paper applications are available at your school site or the Child Nutrition Office, located at 84 East J Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910.   Please return the completed application to the school office or CNS Office.

Eligibility Determination Criteria

Eligibility is based on the household income and number of people living in the home.

Parent Pay Online - Fast and Convenient

All District parents may now conveniently make payments using a credit or debit card by accessing the Parent Pay website and creating an account.  You will need your student's 6 digit district student number which you can find by looking on your student's report card.  There is a 5% convenience fee assessed by the bank for all payments. 

This will also provide up-to-date meal account balances.  This feature is free.
