Hard Work Pays Off for Newly Tenured Teachers

 TEA AND TENURE—The District recently hosted the 17th Annual Tenure Reception for 75 first-year tenured certificated employees. The Board of Education presented certificates to the honorees at the “tenured teacher tea.” Arroyo Vista Charter teacher Rachel Mednick (pictured with flowers above) and her mother Laurie Humphrey, a Halecrest Elementary teacher (third from the left), celebrated with colleagues and school leaders. They are among the few parent-child teacher combinations in the District. District leaders congratulated the newly tenured teachers, noting that not everyone makes it through the process, and, given the tight budget year, no group of teachers was as thoroughly reviewed as this group. Great job!
