Important information for parents of 6th grade students: A new law in California requires that each student at every grade from Grades 7 through 12 provide proof of a Tdap booster shot against pertussis before starting school. Schools will not be permitted to allow students to attend class until they provide proof of immunization against pertussis. This requirement:
- Took effect in the 2011-12 school year.
- Can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap vaccine on or after the 10th birthday.
- Applies to all public and private schools.
- Does not affect students enrolled in summer school.
Ask about getting your student immunized for pertussis through Kids Care Express or your primary health care provider!
